Flooring trends that are going nowhere.
Whether making home improvements and redecorating, or starting from scratch on a new build. We thought we would put together a list of popular flooring styles, new flooring is not the cheapest project to undertake, that's why its important to get it right first time.
Read below to see what our customers are going for, we expect these flooring trends to stay around into the year ahead:
Luxury Vinyl Tiles
Talking of LVT... For many years the substitute for solid and engineered flooring was always laminate. Laminate is the cheaper option and it does come with water-resistance however LVT surpasses laminate on many categories; firstly it's waterproof, stain-resistant, incredibly durable, it comes in a huge range of colours, textures and finishes and in a a range of shapes.
The popularity of LVT has grown significantly in recent years and now accounts for the largest proportion of flooring we fit to both commercial and residential properties.
LVT uses the latest in innovation and technology. They can replicate the texture and details of real wood and stone, but with the inherent durability and ability to handle fluctuations in moisture and humidity.
Amtico has made great steps in making their flooring as eco-friendly throughout its manufacture as possible.
With a focus on the environment and sustainability we believe Eco-friendly choices will only become more prevalent. Many more people are choosing to make positive, greener choices within every aspect of our lives, this includes flooring.
We have a wide range of flooring options with eco-credentials, from natural wool carpets, to engineered woods which use far less timber during the manufacturing process or even Amtico Luxury Vinyl Tile which you might find surprising.
Colours: Greys and Neutrals
In recent years interiors have begun to incorporate more and more neutrals and greys. Its a colour palette that can be both cooling or introduce warmth to a space. This palette also works as a canvas on which bolder or more vibrant accent colour can be placed.
Flooring has also been caught up in this interior design trend. And it stands to reason, as these neutral colours provide the perfect base for whatever colour sofa, furniture, or dining table might sit on top of it.
Greys and neutrals are super versatile and lend themselves to any interior decor, whether subtle, bold, light or dark etc. Neutrals will always be complimentary.
Regardless of what you choose as your flooring, it could be carpet, laminate, or LVT. Something that has gradually increased in popularity is texture.
Saavy Customers are now taking a greater interest in not only the colour, the shape of the tiles, and the detail of the grain but also how the floor feels and texture is a big part in that. Texture is not only about feeling though, it adds depth and gives a much more realistic impression.
Flawlessly smooth is out, and realistic texture is in.
Deep pile, rustic surfaces and sculptural forms are the popular choice and for good reason. Texture introduces heightened touch/feel, depth and the impression of authenticity.
Increasingly Parquet has been a huge trend among our commercial and residential clients. it is a more expensive option due to the sheer amount of work to properly lay a parquet floor, but the results are stunning.
Parquet flooring is timeless, intricate and gives a sense of grandeur. This striking laying technique can be seen in many styles such as Chevron and herringbone.
Parquet goes as far back as the 16th century chateaus in France, and remains an elegant and exquisite solution to flooring.
This characterful feature is certainly here to stay considering its long and illustrious past.
Keep it classic
Classics are classic for a reason.
When choosing flooring styles the classics will always be a great choice. Unaffected by trends, if in doubt, you cant go wrong with classic styles.
